Whittard, the specialist tea, coffee and gifts retailer, is rolling out new point of sale and retail management software from Cegid to its 80 UK stores. Yourcegid Retail gives its staff and management real-time access to sales and stock information in a bid to improve customer service levels and increase profitability across all retail channels.

Simon Watson, senior business analyst at Whittard, said that by replacing its old system, which was over ten years old, would save the retailer up to £300,000 in essential upgrade costs. Other benefits of the new system included: a need for more sophisticated tools for managing promotions, for instance ‘buy two get third free’ deals; as well as making sure that its loyalty scheme would be available in any store.
